In 2026, we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of BIRTH with a special, one-year-only opportunity to produce the play. This is a chance for women around the world to bring it to their communities—and to continue the vital work of raising awareness and funds to improve birth.

Here’s what you need to know:

• Productions are independently organized—in homes, theaters, community centers, or anywhere you choose.

• All proceeds will go to an organization of your choice that is working to improve birth.

• The rights fee is $108, which includes:

  • A PDF copy of the BIRTH script

  • Permission to produce the play any time in 2026

If BIRTH moved you, if it inspired you to speak out or step up—or if you never saw it but feel inspired to bring this classic play on childbirth to your community - you are invited to produce it in 2026.

2. Gather people in your local birth community to help you produce it. You want to make sure you have support.

3. If you have no theater experience, reach out to any theater people you know and local theaters to see if they will donate space for the event.

4. Every every raises money for an organization improving birth. Explore local options first.
